10. No Impersonation
Do not falsely impersonate:
- another player

Do not publish exploitable security details in Global Chat.
16. Marketplace Conduct
Do not use community features to:
- coordinate fraudulent marketplace transactions
- manipulate prices unfairly through prohibited methods
- trick players about listings
- arrange exploit-based asset duplication
- evade marketplace restrictions
Normal discussion of item prices and marketplace strategy is allowed.
17. Display Names
Display Names must follow these Guidelines.
Do not choose a Display Name containing:
- harassment
- threats
- hateful content
- explicit sexual content
- child-exploitation references
- impersonation
- malicious links
- highly offensive or illegal content
CrateMarket may require an inappropriate Display Name to be changed.
18. Reporting Content
If you see a Global Chat message that may violate these Guidelines, use the available:
Report
function.
Reports may be reviewed by an authorized administrator or moderator.
Choose the most accurate report reason and provide useful details where appropriate.
19. Do Not Abuse Reporting
Do not knowingly submit reports simply because:
- you lost a game interaction
- you dislike another player's marketplace strategy
- you disagree with someone
- you want to punish another player
Repeated malicious false reporting may itself result in moderation.
20. Blocking Players
CrateMarket allows players to block other players in Global Chat.
If you block someone:
- their Global Chat content may be hidden from you
- they are not normally notified
- the block does not automatically ban their account
- the block does not necessarily affect marketplace or leaderboard visibility
You may manage blocked players through the appropriate Global Chat/settings interface.
21. Blocking and Reporting Are Different
Block
controls your personal Global Chat experience.
Report
notifies moderation about potentially prohibited content.
You may:
- block only
- report only
- both report and block
depending on the situation.
22. Official Announcements
CrateMarket may display official/system announcements.
Do not impersonate official announcements.
Official system messages may remain visible regardless of normal player blocking where necessary to communicate important information.
23. Moderation
CrateMarket may review reports and community activity where necessary to enforce these Guidelines.
Moderation may consider:
- severity
- context
- frequency
- prior behavior
- account history
- risk to other players
Not every report will result in punishment.
See Sections 34 through 38 for staff roles, cooperation, enforcement discretion, staff accountability, and appeals.
24. Possible Moderation Actions
Depending on circumstances, actions may include:
- no action
- warning
- message removal
- temporary Global Chat mute
- longer Global Chat restriction
- forced Display Name change
- marketplace restriction
- game suspension
- account ban
- permanent account termination
Serious violations may result in immediate action without a previous warning.
25. Deleted or Moderated Messages
A message removed by moderation may remain in restricted administrative records where reasonably necessary for:
- moderation history
- abuse investigations
- security
- reports
- legal requirements
It may no longer remain publicly visible to normal players.
26. Account Deletion Does Not Automatically Erase Legitimate Moderation Evidence
If an account is permanently deleted, CrateMarket follows its Account Deletion and Privacy systems.
Limited moderation, security, financial, or legal records may be retained or anonymized when reasonably necessary.
A deleted account must not remain an active playable account.
27. Attempts to Evade Moderation
Do not attempt to evade moderation by:
- creating accounts solely to bypass a ban
- using alternate accounts to continue harassment
- changing Display Names to impersonate someone again
- exploiting technical bugs to bypass Global Chat restrictions
Circumvention may result in additional action.
28. Context Matters
CrateMarket may consider context when reviewing content.
Friendly competition, normal disagreement, game strategy discussions, and reasonable criticism are not automatically violations.
These Guidelines are intended to address abusive, unsafe, fraudulent, illegal, or seriously disruptive behavior.
29. Enforcement Is Not Guaranteed to Be Immediate
CrateMarket aims to address legitimate reports reasonably, but moderation may require investigation.
Submitting a report does not guarantee:
- immediate action
- a particular punishment
- disclosure of another player's moderation history
30. Privacy of Moderation
CrateMarket generally does not need to tell a reported player which specific player submitted a report.
Likewise, players are not normally told who has blocked them.
This helps reduce retaliation and protects community-safety tools.
31. Lawful Requests
CrateMarket may cooperate with valid lawful requests or authorities where required by applicable law.
32. Updates to These Guidelines
These Community Guidelines may change as CrateMarket's community features evolve.
The latest version will display its Last Updated and Effective Date.
Where a material change affects your use of Global Chat or other community features, CrateMarket may require you to review and accept the updated Guidelines before continuing to participate.
33. Contact
For normal support and community questions:
For security vulnerabilities or serious security concerns:
Thank you for helping keep CrateMarket fair, safe, and enjoyable.
34. Staff Roles in Community Enforcement
Moderator
Moderators focus primarily on community safety, reports, Global Chat, Display Names, content removal, warnings, mutes, temporary restrictions, unsafe active listings, and other moderation actions permitted by their current backend role.
Admin
Admins may perform authorized Moderator actions and may also apply broader account, Marketplace, gameplay, virtual-asset, or permanent enforcement actions where their current backend role permits.
Owner
The owner has final internal authority over moderation policy, administrator access, serious enforcement, emergency service restrictions, and the administration of CrateMarket, subject to applicable law and platform rules.
These descriptions do not expand the technical permissions of any role. Authentication, active-role status, current backend authorization, MFA where required, an audit reason where required, and other security controls continue to apply.
35. Cooperation With Authorized Staff
Players must not:
- impersonate a Moderator, Admin, Owner, or support representative
- falsely claim staff authority
- harass or threaten staff because of a moderation decision
- attempt to bribe staff or obtain confidential moderation information
- evade an instruction or restriction through another account
- submit false evidence or destroy or manipulate relevant evidence
- abuse support or reporting channels to pressure staff
Players must comply with reasonable safety, security, Display Name, Global Chat, Marketplace, and account instructions issued by authorized staff.
36. Staff Discretion and Enforcement
Authorized staff may consider context, severity, frequency, intent, history, risk, evidence, and impact. Similar-looking cases may have different outcomes because relevant circumstances differ. Serious conduct may result in immediate action without a prior warning.
A warning is not required before every mute, restriction, suspension, ban, or termination. No player is guaranteed a particular action against another player. Failure to act immediately does not waive later action, and a decision not to enforce one violation does not create permission for future violations.
The owner is not required to disclose confidential reports, security methods, staff notes, another player's personal data, or internal evidence.
37. Staff Accountability
Authorized staff are expected to use only assigned permissions, provide an audit reason where required, avoid conflicts of interest and personal Marketplace advantage, protect confidential information, avoid retaliation, escalate serious matters appropriately, follow security and MFA requirements, and preserve necessary moderation evidence.
Staff abuse may result in role removal or other internal action. This section does not create a public right to access confidential personnel, audit, moderation, or security records.
38. Appeals and Support Review
Where an appeal or support-review process is available, a player may submit a clear and truthful request through the designated support channel. An appeal does not automatically pause an action and does not guarantee reversal.
Repeated duplicate, threatening, abusive, or fraudulent appeals may be closed. The owner may refuse to disclose confidential evidence. The owner or another authorized reviewer may make a final internal decision. Mandatory legal rights remain unaffected.
